Timber processing plant
Kiwi Lumber is a privately owned New Zealand company operating four modern sawmills located in the North Island of New Zealand. The four mills located at Putaruru, Gisborne, Dannevirke, and Masterton have a combined production of 250,000 m3 of sawn timber output per annum.
With production wholesaled through New Zealand as well as a range of export markets that include North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Kiwi Lumber Masterton needed new storage buildings to keep up with their high level of output. The facility needed to incorporate ventilation, chemical containment, and durable structural design to support long-term use.
Attika worked closely with Kiwi Lumber to design and construct a processing plant that met industry safety regulations and operational efficiency requirements. The facility’s custom foundation and floor system were engineered to contain and manage chemical runoff, ensuring environmental compliance.
The open-sided structure allows for natural ventilation, preventing excessive moisture buildup, while bird-proof rafters and purlins help maintain a clean processing environment. The addition of a lean-to storage area streamlines logistics and stock management, supporting Kiwi Lumber’s high production demands.
